These are the Minimum System Requirements for PC's at Stony Brook Medicine

PCs and Laptops:

Operating System:

• Microsoft Windows 11 
• Apple MacOS 15 "Sequoia"

Processor: 

• For Windows: Intel i5 12th generation or above (ex: i5-12500T), or AMD Ryzen 5000 series or above (ex: Ryzen 5600)
• For MacOS: Apple M1 or above

Memory: 

• For Windows: 16GB
• For MacOS: 8GB

Storage:  

• 256GB minimum
  • Stony Brook provides multiple cloud-based options for extra storage

A computer purchased within the last 2 years will generally meet the minimum computer hardware requirements.

*Note: iOS devices (iPads) although powerful may not be compatible with all software and are not recommended as a PC or laptop replacement. Chromebooks are not recommended or supported. 

End-of-Life (EOL) Hardware:

Hardware may be added to the End-of-Life (EOL) list. This can be due to slow performance, security vulnerabilities, or lack of support from the manufacturer. Hardware on the EOL list will be provided little or no support by Stony Brook IT. It is recommended that users upgrade their equipment if possible.
